2024 Exchange

2020 * 2021 * 2022 * 2023 * 2024Music Exchange Guidelines

Our 2024 Exchange is coming soon. Here’s the tentative playlist:

01: January: Vasectomy Party / Hal Harmon

Working as an artist for over 10 years now, Vasectomy Party offers wonderful experimental jams for you to enjoy. This year, we got another 3″ disc, with loops and sounds that create wonderful tapestries, that unfold for you in three tracks, that wander and sprawl across this release. A great first volley!

02: February: ꉓꍟꂦ꒒ꎇꃅꂦꀤꋪꍟꍏꈤꈤ ꌗꃅꀤꍏꈤꌗꍏꉓꃅ ꀸꀎꀤꈤꍟ ꍏꂵꃅáꀤꈤ – Library Music.

This nearly 39 minute piece is accompanied by no information, and only has slightly moreso included with the e-mail that was sent to our group with the disc. Though this shouldn’t be discouraging, as this is actually an extending piece of music that evolves and changes.

03: March: TanukiSpiderCat – Derealizations

This mixture of cello, synths and samples is a fantastic March release for our group, with six new tracks from the always impressive TanukiSpiderCat. I find their releases and music to be incredibly transportive, and evokes feelings of travel and exploration in ways that I truly appreciate.

04: April: Don Haugen

A member of our group way back at the beginning, Don has been making experimental music for years, and his work is wonderfully hypnotic and beautiful, which is exactly what we need more of.

05: May: univac

(linktr.ee/univac)

Artist, creator, maker, bender, broadcaster, and bon vivant, univac has been working with and making music for ages, and in that 30 years, has performed with and participated in some of the most incredible artists working in experimental music. I’m not only lucky enough to call him friend and writing partner, and a great addition to this group.

06: June: Mini-Mutations

07: July: Jocko Homomorphism

(jocko-homomorphism.bandcamp.com)

This project has been a staple of this group since the beginning, and their yearly releases are a great way to help mark the passage of time. I’m always pleased when a new release comes my way, and I think you’ll enjoy these electronic explorations as much as I do.

08: August: Le Petit Sac

(petitsac.bandcamp.com)

Always hilarious, always confrontational, and lately, very very seasonal, Le Petit Sac has been a creative force in experimental performance and recording for going on 20 years now, and it is an honor to have them in the group, since the beginning, even! Looking forward to the kinds of “Summer Jams” that they will offer in 2024.

09: September: Regional Processing Facility

While they are new to our group as of last year, this artist has been recording and making music since the early 90’s, and is dedicated to the art and craft of recording. They are a great addition to what we do, and I look forward to seeing what they do next!

10: October: My Burning Bush

(hearmyburningbush.bandcamp.com)

They have been in our group since the beginning, and My Burning Bush always delivers when it comes to weirdness, and drones. They are always working, always producing, and always finding new ways to enter a musical state of bliss.

11: November: Brief Being

New Group! I don’t think they even have played that much, and they don’t have many recordings yet. But they will this year! We are always excited to have new artists in the group, but this one is comprised of some long-time experimental performers, so I suspect this will be a release that will be worth the wait.

11: November Bonus: Dylan Houser

Glorious noise from down south.

12: December: Aversion To Reality

Another long-timer in our group, and who always delivers incredible work. This project has been fun to follow, and always delivers something unique. I’m excited to see what they do this time!

12: December Bonus!: I Died

It’s a harsh noise X-Mas, as we get a bonus release this year from I Died, who has been with the group since the beginning, and is not only a collaborator in one of my own projects, but was the person behind the “Black and Purple” cassette label in the early / mid-2000s, where you could get a wide range of truly incredible experimental artists. Thanks for joining us!
