The injury I sustained last night, punching a piñata. #42ndBirthday.
Just Kitten, /root_DIR, Gordon Taylor and MARC & the Horsejerks, at the Fifty Pub N’ Grub. So much fun!
Just Kitten gave me this piñata as a birthday gift. Thanks again! Super fun.
Set lists from last night.
Sunday Service is in session. Mutation Showcase 01. We have a killer line-up with Eric Hausmann & Scott Steele, VortexRemover, The Long Division Trio and MKUltramegaphone. Should be killer. Starts at 8!
tfw Andy Kaufman likes your post, but hasn’t accepted your friend request.
I broke my glasses.
New crazy conspiracy theory: Andy Kaufman was actually Lester Bangs.
Well well well. The night is finally here. I understand that the primary competition for tonight’s entertainment has sold out, so if you want some live rock music, come on down to the Fifty Pub N’ Grub. Four bands, free to get in, and the line-up is great: Just Kitten, /root_DIR, Gordon Taylor & MARC & the Horsejerks. It’s gonna be a lot of fun, and you can help me celebrate another rotation on this here rock. The fun starts at 9, sharp!
Getting ready for Just Kitten to rock Mid-Valley Mutations. Tune in, and hear them play live for the first time in public.
I think about this song often.
There is a ton of fun stuff happening this weekend. Good time to have a birthday.
This one’s pretty great.
Birthday shenanigans begin now.
More submissions keep rolling in, and this issue promises to be a little multi-media. (With both video and audio submissions, now.) Please, keep ’em coming. May 14th is sooner than you think…
Check out this excellent promotional image for the show this Sunday! I didn’t realize that Eric Hausmann hasn’t really played in the US in over two years (was that at my last birthday gig?), and I’ve very excited to have him on this bill, with Scott Steele, no less. (Been too long since I’ve seen him.) This is gonna be great. Don’t miss it.
I think about this song constantly:
All music is shit to god.
He thinks we’re a bunch of babies.
He has no patience for all our noise.
He makes great big plans to destroy us.
I don’t care about your friend’s band and what a bunch of “nice guys” they are.
For every rock show that starts at 10 PM, there needs to be a 10 AM equivalent.
I’m looking for a good app that I can use to catalog my comics. What do you use?
Wrote a little fiction today.
Put this on as loud as you can, and cry along with me.
Just received the first submission. I could use one of yours to set against it. Let’s do this.
You Are Band
Finished cataloging my records. Got rid of a ton. Still feels like a lot.
I haven’t seen any of the bands. But I have seen some of them.
It’s about time I got back to this.
No wonder the social media seems thick with desk-job folks posting nonsense.
The Meaning of Life continues with Day 2 at The Space Concert Club, as part of the “Sunday Service” series we have been doing there. The line-up contains Eugene’s The Long Division Trio, long-time friends Eric Hausmann & Scott Steele from Portland, local favorites VortexRemover, and Austin’s very own MKUltramegaphone closing out the show. This promises to be a lot of fun, and we’re very excited to be throwing this excellent party. Come on down. Help a man turn 42 with some excellent live music.
Dude… Legion is really good.
“The impossible often has a kind of integrity to it which the merely improbable lacks.” – Douglas Adams
Are you ready for The Meaning of Life? 8 Bands / 2 Venues / 2 Days, all to help Austin Rich celebrate his 42nd trip around the sun. Mark your calendars, and drop by Saturday to hear some excellent rock music by MARC & the Horsejerks, Gordon Taylor (a 10th Anniversary Performance for them), punk combo Just Kitten stepping out of the garage for the first time, and Eugene hardcore duo /root_DIR. All at the Fifty Pub N’ Grub, the hardest rockin’ (and hardest drinkin’) bar in Salem. This will prove to be a lot of fun, and we’re really looking forward to seeing you. (And, tune in to Mid-Valley Mutations the night before, to hear Just Kitten kick things off, live on the air!)
Happy Taurus birthday.
Mary Ford and nice weather.
“I couldn’t remember my own name. So I called myself Bob. It’s weird being a Bob, but I’ll get used to it. I’ll have to.”
Nostalgic for a day when it seemed simple enough to sing from the top of my lungs, “Kill All The White Man.”
Sing along now!
Friends: This promises to be a fun evening of radio tom foolery, excellent live music, and all sorts of good times, as we have VortexRemover, LIVE on Mid-Valley Mutations. I think you’ll enjoy it, and the fun starts at 10 PM, sharp. Tune in to KMUZ, and kick-start your weekend right.
The other day my nephew found the old Ghostbusters cartoon on Netflix.
He said, “Mom, look! BOY Ghostbusters.”
Happy Bicycle Day, one and all.
I’m still a little sad that I never woke up to find I had superpowers.
I suspect that if I was to suggest a comics swap, where we all get together somewhere with drinks and trade various things from our longboxes, that the turnout would be pretty good.
This one actually made me chuckle.
Happy Easter. I gave her a play structure. #BestUncleEver
Merry Keister, one and all!
This is a thing that happened, I guess?
I’m gonna need a re-do on today. Can we meet back again tomorrow and try again?
Part of me wants to believe image one inspired image two. Thoughts?
Time to get to work.
I’m not ready for a “Bob Dylan phase.” I’m still in my Unwound phase.
Remember when they were afraid of downloading music? How funny time changes…
Let’s say the weather is getting nice, and you are in a band. You totally wanna play a show at a BBQ in my backyard, right?
“Hell is real, and it smells like Axe Body Spray.”
Can you believe there’s still a Time magazine?
Band I hate: The one where money is at the center of what they do.
Band I think is overrated: The one that you hear everywhere and you wish you didn’t.
Band I think is underrated: The one that you don’t hear anywhere and you wish you did.
Band I love: Your Band
Band I secretly love: The Popular One
Guilty pleasure: The Unpopular One
Favorite band: My Band
Wow. I booked this guest so long ago, we hadn’t even voted in the election yet. But I love it when Bob Bucko Jr comes to town, and I think you will, too. This is the perfect way to kick off this weekend, and he’s playing a bunch all over Oregon, too! Well worth venturing out to see in person, but you can hear him, live on our program. This will be one to tell the grandkids about.
Let’s talk about me for a moment: over two days 8 Bands are playing at two venues to help me celebrate my Adams Anniversary, otherwise referred to as 42 laps around the sun. MARC & the Horsejerks, Gordon Taylor, Just Kitten & /root_DIR on April 29th at the Fifty Pub N’ Grub. Then, MKUltramegaphone, VortexRemover, The Long Division Trio & Eric Hausmann and Scott Steele are rocking The Space Concert Club on April 30th. I would love to see ya’ll there. Please, mark it on your calendar. Let’s do this.
I really enjoy making my new podcast, which is a departure from the other shows I’m involved with and / or host. I do this show with my friend Angela, and we talk about stuff that is on our minds, with dumb jokes to accompany these stories. It’s very much our sensibility, and for that we hope that you’ll give it a chance to become part of your weekly routine. Is is Monday already? It must be time for WWRR? Enjoy.
This one’s always good.
Grandma & Arbuckle.
Oh shit, The Beef & Dairy Network. I mean… damn.
Editing old, unlabeled video footage I shot makes me think I should take better notes about what I meant to do with this stuff.
Goodbye, Don Rickles.
La la la la la. La la la la la.
This Friday: six groups hand-picked by Corvallis Experiments in Noise are coming in to take over Mid-Valley Mutations to give us a dose of what they do over there. This should be a pretty intense show, and we’re excited to have them over. The fun starts at 10 PM, sharp, on KMUZ.
You heard about my other podcast, right?
I woke up with this stuck in my head. Good morning.
“Run to the window, they’re coming to get you.
Hide in the basement, they’re coming to get you.
Flee to the rooftop, they’re coming to get you.
Don’t go outside, no don’t let them get you!”
