Very cool. The live Podchaost recording from the Podcast Symposium is now in their feed, for your enjoyment. You can hear me laugh way too loud throughout the show, and Marla & I get shout-outs at the end. This was a ton of fun. Let’s do it again.
The Second issue of The Cherry Picker zine is out today! Contains: show run-downs, an overview of the KMUZ Pledge Drive, a review of the new album by Moon of the Wolf, and an interview with Emma Pace Jonas, plus a whole lot more. (Basically: all the views.) I’ll be making deliveries today. If you would like one, let me know now, and I’ll add you to the list. https://thecherrypickerzine.wordpress.com/2017/09/27/64/
While much of the action takes place on an island technically (it’s in a castle, on an island), it’s almost every other genre but horror. Still fun if you don’t mind a movie that skimps on plot (and length).
The Salem Oregon Podcast Symposium was so much fun. Thank you The Podchaost (Emma Pace Jonas, Dashiell Thompson, Chad Johnson & guests), and Cool Sheets (Karen McFarlane Holman & Brian Hart) for putting on great shows, and Vortex Remover for really kicking out the jams on Mid-Valley Mutations. And, of course, my incredible wife and co-host on The Capital Couple, Marla Rich, for making everything great, even after a robbery. I couldn’t do this without you. See you next time!
Getting ready to go live with Kiisu Dsalyss on Mid-Valley Mutations, to talk about his band The Secret Light and his career in music over the last 20 years. Tune in to KMUZ.org and listen live, at 10 sharp.
I’m really impressed. We are now available in 10 different locations here in Salem, and the overall response has been really cool. We’re almost out of our first print run, so pick one up soon if you can. If you would like one, let me know, and I’ll get one to you. Otherwise, here’s a page that has all the places we are available. Let me know if someone has run out, I’ll bring more.
For those of you who are wanting to pick up a copy of The Cherry Picker out in the wild, here is a list with Google Map Links (when appropriate). I’m very excited that you can pick them up now at Ranch Records – Cds, Lps, Vintage Rock Art, Dvds, The Book Bin – Salem, Beanery, The Governor’s Cup Coffee Roasters, Summer Street Little Library & Jori Zan’s Body Piercing for all carrying The Cherry Picker! That’s an excellent start, if you ask me.
And now, the first issue of The Cherry Picker is ready for your enjoyment. Follow this link to join the mailing list, check out our website, and find out how you can enjoy the digital version. Like a DIY Hipster Santa, I’ll be delivering these around Salem today. Would you like one? Let me know, and I’ll send one your way. https://thecherrypickerzine.wordpress.com/
While I only just now saw this version, this story might be one of my all time favorite Sci-Fi stories / movies. (The movie linked here was remade as the first episode of the US show, which is where I first saw it.) I think about some element of Max Headroom almost every day, and seeing new elements I’ve never seen before has been so much fun this week. Like some long lost summer from 30 years ago, where all I could do was obsess over this character.
I’ve been writing zines since 1993. This new one is an entertainment / opinion piece with a focus on music and art. Print issues will be available tomorrow. Let me know where you are, and I’ll deliver one. And if print isn’t your bag: Sign up for the mailing list to receive a digital download link as new issues are ready. The first issue comes out TOMORROW. I’m nervous… http://eepurl.com/c3a_ub
Tomorrow I launch my new writing project, born out of the recent break-in. I will start handing out the physical copies tomorrow. You can sign up for the mailing list, where you will receive a download link for the digital copy. Join the mailing list now, and be the first to check out something new. http://eepurl.com/c3a_ub
As the kids like to say: tonight! As summer very clearly winds to a rapid close, we offer this end-of-summer Non-Bummer, in an effort to offset all the bummers happening right now. Come see Thetwopointoh / Dungeon Drummer in the all ages slot. Then stick around for Hobo Maker, and two sets by “pick-up” groups assembled from local artists and improvisers! This will be a lot of fun, so come out and get Mutated!
Join us, for a live performance with Uneasy Chairs & MKUltramegaphone. We’ll be presenting another installment of The War Years, where we perform music that relates to living during war time. Join Us. 10 PM, Sharp.
This is it, friends. I’ve had a lame couple weeks, dealing with the break-in, family medical stuff, and needless life drama. It’s time to have some fun. It’s time for a Comic Swap! Bring your old stuff. Trade it for new stuff. Enjoy the food and drinks. Family Friendly! Bring the kids! This is the good time that – and everyone – certainly needs. Tonight!
And, while we’re on the subject: why not give an “enjoy” to the program I do with Joe & Ainsley, where we mix pop culture conversations with SFX and dumb jokes. And occasionally we talk about Tinder dating. We recommend it. Honest.
